Black Trousers & Brown Leather Shoes

I'm starting to doubt myself.

I've always been a big fan of brown leather shoes, be it dress shoes or loafers, and have worn them with almost any outfit (except black tie).

But recently, I've encountered a spate of online resources telling me that I'm guilty of multiple counts of a heinous crime. Mixed with some opinions that it's "standard decadence attire" and a "crazy sick look when properly done".

It always depends on your target audience I guess. If I walk into a room sporting a black suit and purple shoes, 3 quarters of the room would smirk while the rest would wow. Like they say in the gq article, it takes a certain sense of style to go against the code, but it also takes a sense of style to accept the different. Nothing is wrong if you can make it work. And just because one is a big mega star doesn't mean that they become trendsetters too. Beckham's look is allllllll wrong.
Daniel Day Lewis on the hand is "le chic" defined. And you know why? notice the brown on his lapels that matches his shoes, instead of his belt.

Well, in the pictures you showed, the brown shoes didn't match the black trousers. Except for maybe the last picture?
